Domaine Croix Rousse - Provence / IGP du Var - Southern France
organic - biodynamic - biodyvin - vegan - Low sulphite - delicious wine
Coming from Lyon city, Christophe Durdilly and his wife Christelle decided in 2005 to settle in Puget-Ville located in the Var department (Provence).
This former sommelier converted straight into organic his 7Ha of vineyard, and rapidly came to farm his vines following the biodynamic principles.
Different wines are produced and split in two different ranges , that are “Suvé du Vent” and “Pierres Précieuses (Gemstones)” .
Since 2006, this young Provencal wine estate has been producing low-yield wines, processed and aged only in concrete tanks for both Rosé and Red wines, and concrete eggs and stainless steel tanks for white wines. This approach has led undoubtedly towards wines that are completely original, sincere and natural. Christophe Durdilly signs wines of great intensity.
Since 2012, the wines are no longer approved by the Côtes de Provence Apellation (PDO administration) as they are considered too typical because of their strong temperament (that many French wine specialists defend) obliging Croix Rousse estate to retail sale its cuvées as “IGP Var”.
We find in each wine the sensitivity of the winemaker, who is far from having said his last word.
